CEIP SANTA ANA’S ITALIAN EXPERIENCE ACCORDING TO THE ERASMUS+ PLAN

The CEIP Santa Ana in Cuenca has concluded the mobility of seven of its students and two teachers in the town of Chieri (Italy) as part of its Erasmus+ Project “Green Eyes Breaking News,” which took place from May 20 to 24.

Through a comprehensive program of activities organized by the Italian educational center Istituto Comprensivo Chieri 1, the students had the opportunity to develop a linguistic immersion process during each school day and with host families during the remaining time of each day. Continuous learning and exchange of both mother tongues in combination with English (the common language of the Project) fostered teamwork to enjoy classroom games, cultural visits to the Royal Palace or the Egyptian Museum in Turin (the second most important museum in the world after Cairo), as well as other visits and activities in the town of Chieri itself, also learning its customs and history through a fun Geolocation activity.

There was also space for art, music, and dance, with activities focusing on the important figure of Pablo Picasso and his paintings; songs, dances, and choreographies of Italian dances, or the visit to the Sound Landscape Museum in Riva Presso Chieri, a fantastic place to enjoy silence and enhance selective listening to strange but very curious musical instruments that produce unique sounds and melodies.

This mobility concluded with an official visit to the Chieri Town Hall, where Mayor Alessandro Sicchiero kindly received the students and teachers, explaining the organization of the Government Team and answering questions that aroused the curiosity of the little ones. Following the official nature of the Program, the hosts presented attendance certificates to the students and teachers of the Spanish school, thus closing this adventure in Italian lands.

We must not forget to mention the satisfaction and positive evaluation of the host families for the realization of the Project and the magnificent opportunity that all those involved had to expand their minds, open borders to knowledge, and establish bonds of union. The simple closing ceremony held at the center to taste typical Italian dishes and the delivery of some souvenirs attest to this.

The Erasmus+ Project “Green Eyes Breaking News” thus becomes part of the educational dossier of CEIP Santa Ana to continue training its students as part of its Bilingual Program, its idea of internationalization, and European citizenship, thus paving the way for future collaborative activities with other educational centers in Europe.
